Hadi began his career in film before turning to journalism. Before joining The Straits Times, he reported for the South China Morning Post, Bloomberg, and Radio Free Asia, covering Malaysian politics, society, and the country’s place in the world. He played a key role in ‘Assassins’, the Emmy-nominated documentary on the 2017 killing of Kim Jong-nam, and later directed his own documentary on the separatist conflict in southern Thailand.
